2019 Sportsmans Charity Dinner

The 37th Sportsman’s Charity Dinner was celebrated on Friday 7th February 2019 at Prestonfield, Edinburgh with 490 guests partaking in a prize draw and silent auction while being superbly wined and dined and then entertained by an excellent line up of speakers, all hosted by our master of ceremonies, John Inverdale.

The Sportsman’s Charity was delighted to have as the main sponsors of the 2019 Dinner, Carbon Financial Partners, one of the UK’s leading independent financial planning and investment advice firms and our hosts Prestonfield House.

The speakers were all very well received and our thanks are due to them.

  • Graham Gooch, former England Cricket Captain he is England's 2nd highest test run scorer
  • Paul O'Connell, the former Ireland and Lions lock forward and captain
  • Jim Hamilton, the former Scotland lock forward, Paul and Jim doing a Q&A with John Inverdale
  • Kevin Day, stand-up comedian and writer

The main two “Featured Charities” for the evening were Hearts and Balls and Beyond Boundaries.

Other charities to benefit from funds raised at the Dinner include Harmeny Trust, East Lothian Special Needs Playscheme, Edinb urgh Schoolm Uniform Bank, Scottish Disability Golf and Curling, Combat Stress and The Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh among others.

The dinner raised net proceeds of over £67,000 for which we would express our sincere thanks to all those who have contributed and in particular our sponsors and those who have so generously donated auction lots and bid for them.
